What happens when I apply here?
By applying here, you can find out what application is best for you and your family in order to get health coverage. Depending on your family size and income, this could mean creating an account and filling out an application right here, or heading over to HealthCare.gov (the federal health insurance marketplace) to apply.
Do I apply here for health coverage?
By applying here, you are submitting an online application for the Oregon Health Plan (OHP). OHP is Oregon’s Medicaid program that offers free or low-cost health coverage for individuals and families who qualify. You can apply for OHP at any time. There is no “open enrollment” period for OHP.
What if I want to apply for private health insurance?
You can start by filling out the “pre-screening” questions. You will be directed to the best application for you and your family.

At HealthCare.gov, you can shop and enroll in private health insurance and find out if you qualify for tax credits to help pay the cost.
I don’t know where to apply. How can I find out?
Start by answering the “pre-screening” questions, this will tell you the best application for you and your family. This could mean applying right here, or heading over to HealthCare.gov to apply.
If you fill out an application here, but don’t qualify for OHP, we’ll securely send your application information to HealthCare.gov. At HealthCare.gov, you can shop and enroll in private health insurance and find out if you qualify for tax credits to help pay the cost.
Likewise, if you fill out an application at HealthCare.gov, but qualify for OHP, HealthCare.gov will securely send your application information to us and we’ll contact you with more information.
Do I have to apply online, or can I fill out a paper application?
The fastest way to apply is online. You can also fill out a paper application or call us at 1-800-699-9075 to get assistance in filling out the application in a different way.
Who can I contact to help with my application?
You can get local help. It’s free. Local community partners across Oregon are available to help you apply, renew and enroll in health coverage. To learn more, visit our Community Partner page.
You can also call OHP Customer Service at 1-800-699-9075 (711 TTY) Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
How will my personal information be used?
When you apply, your information will be shared only with the agencies that can verify your income and other information. You can learn how we keep your personal information secure by reading our Notice of Privacy Practices.
What happens after I apply?
When you submit your application online, if we have all the information we need, you could learn right away if you qualify. Otherwise, it may take a few weeks for us to process your information. Once we process your application, we will let you know whether or not you qualify for OHP and what you should do next, if anything.
How will you contact me?
When you set up your online account, you can choose how to get some information from us. When you choose to get information through your online account, we will let you know when you have a new message through email or text message, whichever you choose. You will always receive important notices through the mail, even if you select an online account, so be sure to open any mail that you receive from us.
